Waterline — Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 3, 2026 · Effective: August 3, 2026

Overview

Waterline ("the app") is a water-intake tracking app for Android. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and what choices you have.

No account required

Waterline does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide an email address, name, or any other personal identifier to use the app. All of your water-tracking data (logs, goals, streaks, reminder settings) is stored locally on your device.

Data we store locally on your device

This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us. If you switch to a new Android device using the same Google account, this data may restore automatically via Android's built-in Auto Backup feature, which is managed by Google, not by us — see Google's own privacy policy for how that backup channel works. You can also manually export/import your data as a file from within the app's Settings.

Uninstalling the app deletes this local data (unless a device backup has already been created via Auto Backup, per above).

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Waterline shows ads through Google AdMob to support the free version of the app. AdMob may collect and use data such as your device's advertising ID to show and measure ads, and may use this data for ad personalization unless you've limited ad tracking in your device settings. We do not control what AdMob collects beyond what Google's SDK does by default — see Google's AdMob/Ads privacy documentation for details.

If you purchase "Remove Ads," ad requests (and the associated data collection) stop for your device going forward.

Purchases (Google Play Billing)

Purchases — the one-time "Remove Ads" purchase and the optional subscription — are processed entirely through Google Play's billing system. We do not receive or store your payment card details; that's handled by Google Play. We do receive confirmation that a purchase was made, tied to your Google Play account, so the app can unlock the relevant features and restore your purchase if you reinstall or switch devices.

Data we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email address, physical address, or health records beyond what you voluntarily enter as local app data (e.g., an optional weight input used only to calculate a suggested goal, stored only on your device). We do not sell any data.

Children's privacy

Waterline is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant age threshold in your region) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app in a way that concerns you, contact us at the address below.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under laws like GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA (California) regarding data associated with you — though because Waterline stores your tracking data locally and doesn't tie it to an account, most of that data is already fully in your control on-device (view, export, or delete it anytime via Settings or by uninstalling). Requests about ad-related data collected by Google should be directed to Google, per the Advertising section above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected in an updated "Last updated" date above.
